WOW! PM Skerrit Getting Married?
It would be indeed very interesting to hear wedding bells for the PM. To my recollection there has never been a family Dominican leader – married, with children, holding the leader title at public office. But it certainly would make for an interesting spin on the political race for December. The news alone it would make that he got engaged to So and So last week – just 3 weeks before the actual election and that the Prime Minister is in LOVE. You never hear our Caribbean Leaders being in LOVE – or talking about the love word. I bet it would be an eye opener to get to the personal soft side of any politician.
Journey with me in these 3.5 paragraphs as we create a fairy tale – remember its my fairy tale so there’s gonna be some imperfections:
So the PM has been receiving and sending gifts from Fruits and Flowers Plus to a young lady in Scotia Bank. She is the talk of the office – she is even given special days off so that the courtship can blossom – her X-man on his motorbike was seen attempting to visit her while the PM was just about to enter the doors. Well you know what happened – The big personal security guys of the PM asked him to leave - he muttered something which was interpreted as a fight and is now in jail for assaulting the officer and possibly trying to harm the PM. Now that’s good as Ms. So & So from Scotia Bank gets some alone time with the PM to solidify things. She visits his office every day, and she of course expects the leader of the country to drop her to work and pick up from work – she obviously has had no training in what is expected in the behavior of a woman dating (courting sounds more politically correct/official) the PM. So The Chief Protocol Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is called to do an emergency fix-up of this rough around the edges princess.

PM Getting Married in the morning
Whether its a political move or the PM’s heart is getting soft, he confides in Dr. McIntyre and Vince that he loves Ms. So & So – the feelings are mixed, but his confidants see it as a great opportunity. The PM being married or engage is certainly going to lend more credibility to his poked at character – and if he announces his intentions then the oppositions and those talk show hosts are gonna be very careful when insulting his wife or Fiancé. It now becomes personal (and the DLP knows the PM will do everything to defend his loved ones – they felt he had been too soft with the opposition as of late). The PM addresses the nation and share with them; that he has asked Ms. So & So from Scotia Bank to Marry him and She has accepted.
Now the gossips and speculations have started, the whole country is in a frenzy – every man she had dated, kissed, danced with – even her school male friends are interviewed. The country is divided – half thinks she is not good enough for the PM, and she is to black skinned – should be lighter and that her lips are to thick – and the comments about her breasts and back-side are simply to vulgar to be typed. The other half are so happy for the PM that it has given his profile a serious boost and positive rating in the polls. Ms. So and So from Scotia Bank already behaves like the wife of a Prime Minister -in fact she impresses the hell out of the media and public with her skill in deflecting those accusations – and she is so very supportive of her Man to be. Again the DLP sees a great opportunity in her – for those years as an accounts clerk really did wonders for her interpersonal skills. the PM is in LOVE and still unaware of the plans of the DLP to rope his soon to be wife as a key speaker at those “REd HOt RALLIES“.
After a disagreed alliance bargain between Ron Green and the PM – Pappy – Yep Pappy gets involved and decides to let out of the basket his prized possession about the PM’s Fiancé that not even her own Man-to-Be does not know. That would hurt the PM, his heart, his Moojoe, his campaign. Vote and tell me what you think the secret is:
I would like to see stronger family values in the Political lives of Dominican Politicians. Imagine if Dame Eugenia Charles was married and would
move around with her “hubby” all the time. I think a wife – not a girl friend adds value to the Title office of the Leader of any country. The burden on the wife is that Dominican women might look up to

Imagine These being PM Skerrit Wedding Rings
her and say hey – this is who I would like be when i grow up (a wife – not some girl friend – or girl that has 50 sexual partners). But she must know that every mistake she makes is magnified and the millions of good she does would be hidden. If Ms. Pestina, Mr. Green were Married or Pappy had a wife, then I think it might give weight (mind you – weights of varying proportions) to the individuals and to their campaigns. In a time when youthful lawlessness is the order of the day – when government leaders and religious pundits are asking each other for answers – in a time when the family is broken and in shambles – Then a Family man or woman who works strong at their marriage – maintains a healthy family (even if outwardly) is certainly going to gather some genuine support. If Everyone wants to be like America – then look at the last couple of Presidents – You don’t get considered if you ain’t married – be you a man or woman.

What exactly is the main point and purpose of this article? I think it gets lost in the fantasy mixed in with truths and half-truths.
Sometimes Blogs have no purpose. This is a blog not an article – its a wishful rambling about “what ifs”. Like all other blogs its allows me to take you on that exact journey where you point out this exact point. This was never intended to have any truths or create dialogue, but simply to past a few minutes reading how fun it would be. Please do not take it serious. I would have written about Pappy if i could get some substance on the man that people would relate to.
Thanks for the clarification. Didn’t realize it was a blog.
…or perhaps the lovely lady is from a neighbouring island.
I fail to see how marriage matters in the administration of a government servants duties
(But then again, I am not one made for politics – So what do I know?)
