There Can Only Be One Dominican Prime Minister

I started writing a few blogs and promised to never waiver in my commitment to be unbias in my less than informed views on the Dominican Political landscape. I am now facing a major disappointment crisis- and that is “it is impossible not to have a view, or support a side in this Election campaign”. Now, I am almost confident that an individual can inoculate himself from the political high-fever if she/he sufficiently insulates their faculties and numb their curiosities for all politics = then again that would be unrealistic << Okay, more like ridiculous.

People, it’s impossible not to have a bias – you will eventually fall prey to attaching your compassion for the cause of one of Dominica’s political parties or their candidates. These accusations and counter accusations, the sad penned history of the past with all it’s rich empirical evidence that supports it, the political articulation of the political illiterate that seem to make so much more sense now than before, and lastly; the soft whispers to support and right out open fanaticism of your friends and family with their party of choice will eventually cage your free political spirit.

This election campaign is like a “Great Magic show”. You will eventually believe, but the illusions spun via the words of those Magicians and their apprentices is nothing short of incredible. Suddenly everyone wants to do tricks. And the ultimate danger is this: if the truth is really in there somewhere, then you won’t bother to search for it (because you love the show) – and it “the truth that’s somewhere in there” eventually gets buried under the illusions.

The more informed you are, the more confused you get, and really realize how very little you know. The ignorant always seem to be so sure in their reality – and set a strong case for their knowing. How does one set aside emotions or an affinity for a public figure or political cause, how does one keep the saddle of objectivity strapped firm to wild horse of politics, but most importantly; can you afford not to choose a side – what happens when you back the wrong side. I wonder if the right side will give a second chance if you back the wrong side.

It really does ware you down – all this thinking too much, and trying to be all super straight. Well this is the political timer count-down = It’ll all be over soon.
