Geothermal Energy Resources in Dominica - The New Hype!

A 50% decrease of electricity consumption prices is expected when government implements it new National Energy Policy says Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy Ports and Utilities Lucien Blackmore.

Blackmore (who represented the Minister of Energy Ports and Utilities Charles Saverein) was addressing the Presentation of the final report project follow up meeting of the Project Interreg III B at the Fort Young Hotel Friday.

Dominica recently entered into a Transnational Partnership Agreement with the Regional Councils of Guadeloupe and Martinique, the French Geological Survey, and the French Agency for Environment and Energy Management to explore its geothermal energy resources.

Blackmore says the National Energy Policy will ensure that all Dominicans have access to affordable and dependable sources of energy which will improve the quality of life and extend economic activities in Dominica.
