With Dominica’s (pronounced “dom-in-eek-a”) steady gain of greater exposure in the TV broadcast industry over the past few years; Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) graciously hosted three television crews. As a result, all three crews will be producing shows for upcoming episodes on their respective
networks that will be dedicated to “the Nature Island.”
Communications R Us visited the island June 3-6, 2009, to film throughout Dominica for an upcoming episode of their television series Caribbean Adventures. The crew consisted of Host Rochene Yarde and cameraman Carlos Cox. The episode focused on exploring the many attractions that make the island unique and is scheduled to run March 2010. Caribbean Adventures is a 30-minute program dedicated to promoting Caribbean travel and is broadcasted on Carib Vision and CBC throughout the Caribbean islands of; Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados (cable only), British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, Nevis, St. Eustatius, St.Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Martin, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Turks & Caicos, Trinidad, Tobago, USVI, Guyana and parts of the United States.
Travel Nation’s television crew filmed throughout the island December 1-7, 2009, for an upcoming episode that will focus on “Discovering the Hidden Treasures of the Caribbean.” The crew consisted of cameraman Carlos Alvarez and Producer Arash Farsi. Travel Nation is a 30 minute program focusing on tourist destinations and showcases the hottest travel and shopping spots. Dominica’s episode is slated to run May 2010, and 15 minutes of the 30 minute program will be dedicated to “the Nature Island.” Travel Nation airs on the Travel Channel and the show reaches more than 93 million viewers’ homes.
Most recently, 360 Media/The VK News Report visited “the Nature Island,” January 15-22, 2010. The TV crew consisted of Host/Producer Veronica Keitt and Videographer Nat Wood. 360 Media will be producing a 2-3 part mini-series on Dominica that will showcase the culture, activities and ambiance of the island. The episode is slated to air
February 2010. The VK News Report is an award-winning Independent Network News, Information and Entertainment weekly broadcast that airs exclusively on Time Warner and Cablevision respectively. VK News Report is currently in its 9th year, and its main focus is dedicated to educating the community on current events, community affairs and travel ideas. It has a viewership of over 2.5 million and is targeted to the African American, Latino and Caribbean Diaspora audiences.
Discover Dominica Authority created on-island itineraries for all TV crews that consisted of top activities/attractions: the Rainforest Aerial Tram Tour, visit to Titou Gorge, Trafalgar Falls, Emerald Pool, The Boiling Lake with Tour Guide Peter Green, Screw’s Sulphur Spa, Wacky Rollers Adventure, Whale Watching with Dive Dominica, an Indian
River Tour with Cobra Tours, a walk through Cabrits National Park, a visit to Kalinago Barana Aute, Secret Beach, Pagua Bay Bar & Grill, ATV riding, Canyoning with Extreme Dominica, Waitukubuli National Trail, Horseback Riding Excursion with Brandy Manor and snorkeling at Champagne Beach with Irie Safari. Accommodations were provided by The Garraway Hotel, Castle Comfort Lodge, and Papillote Hotel. The TV crews also had the privilege of interviewing Mr. Colin Piper, CEO/Director of Discover Dominica Authority and Historian Dr. Lennox Honychurch.

Travel + Leisure also announced Dominica as one of the most compelling destinations to visit in their 100 Greatest Trips 2008 edition.
