The Dominica Electricity Services Limited (DOMLEC) has indicated its willingness to co-operate with the Independent Regulatory Commission (IRC) in an investigation to determine the reasoning behind recurring power outages.

The IRC in a statement indicated that an investigation will be mounted to determine the cause or causes of these failures-a situation that they deem unacceptable.

General Manager of DOMLEC, Collin Cover says the most recent of the outages being on September 4th, 2009 was unfortunate and does agree that the situation is indeed unacceptable.

“I understand that the IRC has issued a statement on this and they do have a part to play in this and so I am not surprised. We all have the same end goal in mind which is a better supply of electricity for the Dominican public. It has not surprised me that they have commented on
this. We will work in conjunction with them to ensure that whatever happens in Dominican the consumers end up with a reliable and efficient means of electricity,” he said.

Cover added that it should be a joint effort by both parties to come to a conclusion to the relevant issue and should not just be one side of the coin to take and do all the work
