A twenty-two (22) year old mother from Mahaut has been arrested and is being questioned in the alleged murder of her two children during the early hours of this morning.
Cyrille Carette, Acting Chief of Police confirmed this morning on Q95 FM’s Hot Seat with Matt Peltier that the police “had received a report that a woman from Mahaut had murdered her two children.”
Carette offered little details of the incident. It has however been alleged that Sarah Augustine stabbed her two children in the heart. Rachel Vigilante was five (5) years old and her baby sister Sophie Vigilante only two months old.
It is not clear exactly what may have gone wrong or motivated the killings. Unconfirmed reports however suggest that it may have had something to do with problems Augustine was experiencing with the children’ father.

Augustine may have also suffered from postnatal depression or some form of insanity. Sources familiar with the situation say she has not been quite herself since she fell off from a church balcony unto her head years ago.
News of the alleged double homicide left residents of Mahaut and Dominica by extension in shocked.
The incident followed closely on the heels of the execution style murder of Omara Smalls (previously known as Mwunga Freeman) last night on High Street,

my heart breaks for the children and the mother. I ask everyone to pray for the mother not judge her. Something must have gone wrong in her head, i am sure of it. To the law she needs mental help not prison, she needs the support of us all as human beings and mothers.
There are a lot of other people who are suffering from this illness in Dominica and the rest of the world.
What are health officials doing to ensure mental health for it,s people ? This is a wake up call to put more money into people and their well being instead of 20 million to build a stupid palace for some president.

You should keep such comments to your self, she loved those children with everything she had. So for someone like you to spew such ignorance is insane. If you have nothing reassuring to say keep it to yourself…it is a sad ordeal but who are you to be casting judgment.

I’m sorry but I’m a mother and I can’t ever forgive this woman for what she did. If she was insane or suffering from post parden depression then someone in her family would have surley known and gotten her help, the investigation says it may have to do with her being upset witht he baby father. No matter how depressed you are, no matter how you feel, no human can STAB her children in the heart OK. She needs prison for the rest of her life and during that time she spends there let her get the help she needs but she should never EVER be let out, if she is she will have more children and do it again, because no one can ever get better after doing the worst crime anyone could ever do. I cry everytime I think of this story and to see the faces of the children makes it so much worse.

You do not know this woman and it isn’t up to you whether you 4give her or not! You dunno her from a hole in the wall and you have no right voicing that you wont forgive her. Heart braking news but I would enter into that matter very deep because something must have gone wrong somewhere trust me because a mothers love is to powerful for her to have done such thing like that .so many people are saying to punish her punish her and not thinking about the consequences of irraction they only think for today and not tomorrow satisfaction. the mother needs serious help and I suggest that the highest authority needs to do some thing about that than wasting money on petty things.
