Director of the Dominica Social Justice and Peace Committee is Father Franklyn Cuffy said a number of individuals will be recognized at an upcoming peace concert carded for January 22 in St Joseph.
He said the organizing team is also hoping to raise the consciousness of the young people in Dominica about living a peaceful life.
“We are even thinking of inviting the author and composer of our theme song Mr. Garnet Challenger who lives in Canada to form part of our event. A number of schools on the island have indicated their interest in participating in the event,” he said.
“The question we ask who will speak for the voiceless if you don’t. Cuffy said.
He said Dominica is at a stage when reconciliation is essential.
“We are just coming from an election mode and I think the concert is an opportune event,” Cuffy added.
Some of those to be honored are the late Darnel Bedminster of Point Mitchel who was found dead with a rope around his neck and Baby Mia who was born at 24 weeks and died several weeks later.
