Health officials report increased flu symptoms
The Ministry of Health is reporting an increase in flu like symptoms in Dominica.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Johnson is urging the public to take the necessary steps to prevent the symptoms.
“The public should remain calm. We cannot declare that we have an outbreak but we are witnessing increase activities in persons coming down with flu like symptoms. We expect those numbers to increase, particularly as very soon we will be going into the Creole Festival as we will see a number of visitors in our island,” he said.
According to Dr. Johnson, social distancing is another measure to prevent the spread of the flue.
“Try to stay away from an individual who is coughing or sneezing by three meters. It is recognized that the virus has a certain distance it could travel. It is unlikely that the virus could be transmitted further than that distance,” he added.
