In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Dominica Cancer Society (DCS) will on June 13 2010 host a non-denominational candlelight service at the Roseau Cathedral. This will be preceded by a march from the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard.
The DCS is also hoping to publish a 20th anniversary magazine which would feature among other things the pioneers of the society an overview of cancer in Dominica then and now.
The 20th anniversary of the DCS will be celebrated under the theme “Light of Compassion, Forgiveness, Healing and Hope”.
Established in 1990 and registered as a non-government society on the 18 April, 1991, the DCS was formed with the objective of educating the general public on aspects of cancer relating to early detection and how it can contribute to make it more livable for those affected with the disease and to establish Support groups for cancer survivors, families, and friends
