Health officials on the island are currently investigating what Dominica Central has learnt is an outbreak of gastroenteritis
Health officials have ruled out the possibility of water contamination but are still taking samples to be sure.
Over the past several days, a number of Dominicans have been complaining about diarrhea, vomiting and nausea.
Several have also reported this to their health centers in their districts and officials have been encouraging the public to practice proper hygiene.
Parents have also been warned to keep their children at home and consult their health center if stools are as often as three times a day and are very soft.
