Observers from the Organization of American States and CARICOM arrive in Dominica earlier this week to monitor Dominica’s December 18 2009 general elections. Both the government and opposition parties called for and invited election monitors. Opposition parties were particularly concerned that Dominica might not have had a free and fair election claiming that the Dominica Labour Party was attempting to rig and steal the elections.
A sixteen man observer mission from the OAS led by Steven Griner have been meeting with all the parties concerned, electoral officials and the media to discuss their mission. The observers will be monitoring the electoral process at each of the polling stations.
