Hundreds of revelers and onlookers crowded the streets of the capital city Roseau and the Carnival City on Saturday 25 January for the official opening of Dominica’s carnival -The Real Mass. Revelers and patrons used the opportunity to parade in the streets of Roseau various t-shirt and costume bands, queen contestants, calypsonians and various other persons and aspects of Dominica’s carnival.
At the official ceremony at Carnival city in Pottersville, Tourism Minister Ian Douglas described Dominica’s carnival as vibrant, free, spontaneous, and riveting. The following pictures present a snap shot of the opening of The Real Mass
