Pestina wants DLP to discuss good governance with returning Dominicnas
The Dominica Freedom Party is happy that fully five years after the submission of a draft Diaspora Policy Paper by Dominicans living abroad that Government will be finally engaging visiting Dominicans on this matter.
We are happy that finally recognition will be given to the important role that overseas Dominicans can play in the development of our country which is a welcome departure from what we were told some time ago that Dominicans living overseas were trying to run Government by remote control.
Dominicans will remember that it was the Dominica Freedom Party who started the engagement with Dominicans visiting at this important time of our Independence and encouraged many of them to return home as they are a valuable asset to our development.
However, we sincerely hope that while the draft Diaspora Policy Paper will be the main focus of discussions with Cabinet, visiting Dominicans will be given the opportunity to discuss other important issues concerning Good Governance which continue to bring into question the accountability and integrity of our political leadership. As I said in my Independence Day Message there can be no real Progress and Development without Good Governance. Honesty, Integrity and transparency are vital if Government has to be credible.
We invite all visiting and resident Dominicans to tune in to our Radio Programme on Q95 on Wednesday evening from 8.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. to hear the Dominica Freedom Party’s stance on the Diaspora. We will also be discussing other topical issues including our Policy for Persons with Disabilities with Mr & Mrs Michael Murphy as our Special Guests. We look forward to interacting with you as you take part in our World Creole Music Festival and Independence Celebrations.

why dont the DFP hold its own meeting with the diaspora?
