Dominica Freedom Party
The Dominica Freedom Party wishes to endorse and support fully the statement that appeared on the front page of the Chronicle of Friday 4th December 2009. Mr Frank Baron addressed his concerns about the state of our national affairs to all Dominicans. He referred to the standards and conduct of our previous leaders and he made specific reference to Mr. E O Le Blanc and Dame Mary Eugenia Charles and their significant contribution to nation building. He referenced also the deafening silence from former political friends and colleagues in the face of an ongoing pattern of corruption.
He specifically reproached Prime Minister Skerrit for taking corruption in government, to an extent he had never seen before. He expressed the pain and concern that forced him to break his silence. He was especially worried about the rapid accumulation of wealth by our young Prime Minister and he sought to condemn his receipts of gifts of land worth tens of thousands of dollars as well as his complicity in the fertilizer and garbage bin fiasco.
We consider the attacks on the character and reputation of both Mr. E.O Le Blanc and Mr. Frank Baron unwarranted, disrespectful and insulting. Former Leaders whose reputation has been untarnished by corruption. We particularly condemn without reservation the insults leveled by Mr. Frankie Bellot on his radio station this morning and strongly recommend that he issues an immediate apology to the family and colleagues of Mr. E.O Le Blanc and Mr. Frank Baron.
We further recommend that Prime Minister Skerrit and the entire cabinet publicly distance themselves from Mr. Frankie Bellot and his tirade. We would expect all conscientious thinking businessmen to consider withdrawing all their advertisement from Kairi Fm immediately.
The government has been preaching that they are taking Dominica to the next level. It is sad to reflect that they may mean taking Dominica to the lowest level.
