Hector John to be Officially sworn in as new Leaderof Opposition

United Workers Party (UWP)’s Salisbury MP Hector ‘Spags’ John will be officially sworn in as Leader of the Opposition on Monday at the State House on Victoria Street in Roseau. President Dr. Nicholas J. Liverpool will administer the Oath of Allegiance.

The brief public ceremony is scheduled for 4:30pm.

John who recaptured the Salisbury, Morne Rachette and Coulibistrie constituency in by-elections on Friday July 9, 2010, was unanimously nominated and put forward by the management committee and elected members of the UWP as the Leader of the Opposition.

A graduate of Munro College and first term parliamentarian with little political experience at the electoral level, John brings to the table a wealth of experience in community organization, activism, and leadership and grassroots political savvy. He is thirty-nine (39).

Following his /the formal swearing in, the Honourable Leader of the Opposition will join the UWP at Lagoon at 8:00pm where he is expected to deliver his maiden address. Among other things, John will offer his response to the budget.

John’s next order of business would be to name three senators that will join him along with Edison James and Norris Prevost in Parliament.
