Judith Pestaina Leader of the Dominica Freedom Party
Reginald Austrie, Minister of Housing and Lands, has described attempts by the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) to seek campaign funds from the public as political prostitution.
Judith Pestaina, Leader of the DFP, has written an open letter currently in circulation, attempting to solicit funds from members of the public on behalf of the party to contest the December 18th 2009 elections.
The letter advised donors to send their campaign contributions directly to either the JP Morgan Chase Bank in New York or the Royal Bank of Dominica.
Pestaina also advised that the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) was receiving “substantial financial support from abroad (Venezuela, China, sale of diplomatic positions etc) to fund its campaign (to provide party t-shirts, to meet transportation costs, etc), and Dominica will belong to foreign interests.
But Austrie told party supporters in Grand Fond, that Pestaina is guilty of political prostitution.
“If Skerrit getting money from Venezuela we know that. We know the cost, the price. If he gets it from China we know where Skerrit money is coming from. But where is Judith Pestaina’s money coming from? Who is she sending that letter to? This is like prostitution. Whoever has money come I ready for you wide and open waiting for you. What else does it mean? This is political prostitution because you cannot take a letter, circulate it far and wide saying whoever have money put in your bank and you don’t know where that money coming from,” he said.

Its strange that Reginald Austrie saying these things? whom she should ask for support???? Its the same thing Edison James said to Dame Eugenia !!!!! HOPE YOU all remember !! that Miss Charles always begging. and when Edison Came into power all the money started to disappear, until Earl Williams asked for a new jeep. Its time that we teach our people to work for what they want and raise their own money to push their country rather than relying on others whom they will owe or turn around and do what they want with them. Thats why i loved my high school motto self reliance for a better future.
Reginald Austrie careful what you say because Deceased Carbon havent forgotten you.
I totally agree with you clyde. We should do all we can as Dominicans to help Dominica. I am waiting for the next fund raiser to support my country like all the other islands do.
