Minister for Education Peter St Jean says the vast experiences of current personnel within the Ministry of Education, will assist him in achieving his goals of further improving the education sector.
St Jean, who served as Parliamentary Secretary in the Prime Minister’s office in the last administration, was on Monday sworn in as the new Minister of Education, taking over from Sonia Williams.
St Jean said it is the dream of government to take education to the next level.
“As minister in the Ministry of Education it is my ambition to go out there and work with the technocrats in the ministry to ensure that together we can continue to take education places. It is our dream to take Dominica to the next level and we will make it work,” he said.
St.Jean also gave his commitment to developing the human resource base of the country.
“The people within the walls of the Ministry of Education have contributed quite a lot to the development of Dominica. Fundamentally the development of a nation hinges on the development of its human resource base. This is what we will seek to do…develop our young people,” he added.
St Jean who narrowly defeated Opposition Leader Ron Green in the December polls was elected Parliamentary Representative of the La Plaine constituency.
