Prime Minister Skerrit is demanding apology from Opposition parties

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is demanding an apology from the Opposition United Workers Party for misleading the nation on the Layou River Hotel court matter.

Judgment in a BVI court this week endorsed government’s 51% shareholding the in Shangri-la Development Company.

“Edison James, Lennox Linton and those in the Freedom Party portrayed this Layou debacle as a scandal for government and the people of Dominica. Your country was made to feel that the worst crime have been committed by government. They quoted all kinds of bogus document and set up persons they knew lacked credibility to speak ill of the handling of the Layou matter. What this judgment tells us is that while God is invisible to us, he is not absent,” he said.

The Prime Minister said good will always triumph over evil

“I hope the UWP and the DFP and their friends in certain media factions have a climb down position from those extreme positions they took. I hope that those same persons who vilified me will have the honor and integrity to admit their errors,” he said.

Meantime Minister of Urban Renewal Julius Timothy said 51% of the shares in Layou River Hotel is significant.

You know, i don’t recall the PM ever requesting an apology. I have read the above and i listened to the PM in the days following the announcement of the verdict and i am yet to hear the PM requesting an apology. In the above article, he is suggesting that those “who vilified me” will eat humble pie and admit their errors. An admission of an error is not an apology and i am sure that the PM is aware of this.

In fact, while addressing the DLP public meeting the day following the announcement, the PM stated that he neither expects nor wants an apology.

So, I am not sure that the PM ever requested an apology.
