Two more Douglases distance themselves from the RLP

One week after Macintyre Douglas issued a press release distancing himself from the Real Labour Party (RLP), two other members of the Douglas clan have followed suit.

Eisenhower Douglas and Eleanore Lambert issued a joint statement on June 4 captioned ‘One Authentic Dominica Labour Party’, dissociating themselves from the statements made by their brother Adenauer on the RLP. The two categorically rejected and disowned Adenauer’s views charging the RLP of being the impostor,

Their full statement reads:

“Arising from several enquires coming from ordinary citizens as to the involvement of members of the Douglas Family in the so called “Real Labour Party” we the undersigned hereby disassociate ourselves from that new entity. The statement by Adenauer Douglas (alias Washway) on the subject is not representative of our view. Indeed, when Adenauer made the announcement on national television on Thursday, May 28 2009, we were hearing of this new party for the first time.”

“Both Michael Douglas and Rosie Douglas (deceased) are former members of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP). Taken together, their period of service in the leadership of the DLP spanned a period of 15 years, several years of which were spent in the struggle for a better Dominica as part of the Opposition in Parliament. It is the same DLP of which Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit has served as political leader since 2004 and of which the revered E.O. LeBlanc is a former political leader. Accordingly, it is the so called “Real Labour Party” that is the impostor.”

“We are grateful to the Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit for the contribution of his Government to the growth and development of our country during his tenure as Prime Minister. Moreover, we believe that the DLP is suitably equipped to continue with that national development thrust at this time.”
