Minister Collin Mcintyre ask to speak out and clear his name
The Members of the United Workers Party Roseau Valley Constituency Association has moved a resolution, calling on Senator Collin McIntyre to speak out and clear his name or his involvement in perceived acts of corruption and nepotism.
The Committee members held a meeting in Cochran on Wednesday.
Part of the resolution reads, “where as Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit informed the nation in an address on June 2009, concerning the importation of 2700 garbage bins costing $749619.82 from Andre Dopwell of logistical Supplies in Pennsylvania and he promised the government will receive a refund of about $5000000.00 within 14 days from Mr Dopwel”.
It said further, “whereas Prime Minister Skerrit indicated that he got assurances from Minister Collin McIntyre that he was not involved in the importation of those bins or in any other commodity. And whereas Senator Collin McIntyre was in fact the Minister of Agriculture from 2005 to late 2007, during that time, the Ministry ordered two shipments of fertilizer from his brother Mr. Dopwell in the sum of $1963996.76.And whereas Senator McIntyre has been silent and he has not to date made a statement to clear his name in those scandals which reflects levels of nepotism and corruption,”
The resolution concluded that Minister Mcintyre’s “failure to exonerate himself from these accusations will lead the people of the Roseau Valley to the conclusion that his silence is evidence of guilt in those transactions.”
