Parish Priest of Portsmouth Father Herman Sharplis says child support laws of Dominica should be fully enforced to punish negligent fathers.
Father Sharplis said men should be aware of the responsibilities that parenthood brings and should take those responsibilities very seriously.
“A child needs to be taken care of. Child maintenance is not optional and any man who is bold enough to have a child should be responsible enough to take care of his child. So any law that can enforce that should be given priority. That’s an important aspect in what makes you into a man and a Christian,” he said.
Father Herman Sharplis said further that government should seek ways to make sure men take care of their children.
